Mr. Taddesse Woldeyohannes, Director General, Industrial Development, Ministry of Trade & Industry of the State of Eritrea pays a courtesy call visit to Africa Leather & Leather Products Institute on the 21st of March, 2024.

The purpose of the courtesy call visit by the DG was to appreciate and discuss the collaboration between ALLPI and the Ministry of Trade & Industry of the State of Eritrea.

 Mr. Ghebregziabher Ghebremedhin, Programs Coordinator and ALLPI Staff Members Welcomed the DG and briefed him about ALLPI interventions in Member States in general and ALLPI intervention in Eritrea specifically. During the briefing the Programs Coordinator expressed ALLPI’s appreciation to the State of Eritrea for Actively supporting ALLPI’s activities and lauded their collaborations. He also thanked the DG for his unwavering support to ALLPI interventions since long time.

The DG in his turn expressed   his appreciation for ALLPI’s support to the leather sector in Eritrea and also for facilitating his courtesy call visit to the Institute. 

The DG in his remark discussed the background, the current situation of the leather sector in Eritrea and the status of implementation of the ALLPI and Eritrea joint activities meant to facilitate the development of the leather sector in Eritrea. Furthering his discussion he also shared the collaboration activities with   UNIDO to support the leather sector in Eritrea.

After the meeting with ALLPI, the DG extended his courtesy call visit to the Leather and Leather Products Industry Research and Development Center and was welcomed by Mr. Mohammed Hussein CEO and Mr. Mishamo Leather Processing head. At the center a trio’s discussion was conducted on areas of collaborations like training, intra and inter trade, exchange of experts and global developments in the leather sector.

Before concluding his visit of the Center, the DG toured the facilities at the center accompanied by the leather processing head of the center and ALLPI staff Members. The DG expressed his appreciation for welcoming him, for the fruitful discussion and for allowing him to visit the facility.
