The COMESA – Leather and Leather Products Institute (COMESA/LLPI) presents its complements and has the honour to inform Honourable Minister that the Institute, in collaboration with the COMESA Secretariat and the International Trade Center (ITC), has organized the above captioned Regional Training-Workshop for its member countries, scheduled to take place on 25th – 27th September 2012.

LLPI, being the Regional Leather Sector Development Hub, has recently established an Information Service Unit under its PACT II Programme to provide sustainable leather value chain information exchange and dissemination network services for the business community within the COMESA Region.

 

Objective of the Training:

The main goal of this Training-Workshop is to provide training to relevant information technology personnel in the LLPI contact Ministry and its Country Unit representatives on the usage of network solutions to improve the backward trade information sourcing, processing and dissemination activities and, simultaneously, to officially launch the Regional Network System.

Target Participants:

Target participants from each member country include:

  1. One Head or Senior IT Expert responsible for information sourcing, processing and dissemination from the COMESA and LLPI contact Ministry.
  2. One COMESA/LLPI Country Unit representative responsible for leather development as a focal point for future information exchanges between member country and LLPI.

Candidates’ Selection Criteria:

  • Currently working on regular basis in Information Technology/Trade Promotion/Information Service Units etc. in the contact Ministry (Head or Senior IT Expert in particular).
  • At least first degree holder in relevant field(s).
  • Sufficient language mastery in English for the full understanding of handouts and training materials.
  • Demonstrated ability with regard to computer skills, including excellent word processing capabilities, proficiency with e-mail, internet and database applications.
  • Ability to structure, engage and present information clearly and interestingly to various audiences.
  • Willing to train and share the knowledge gained to others.

Daily Subsistence Allowance:

COMESA/LLPI will cover the cost of round trip economy class air fare, Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) for both participants. Expenses incurred for visa and embarkation fee will be reimbursed upon submission of receipts.

The selected participants will be informed about the modalities of their participation in the Training-Workshop immediately after submitting the attached “Nomination Form”. Either Country Unit representative or other nominee should be assigned as the Country Representative and prepared to present the country’s leather sector information as per the enclosed “Recording Format for the Country Information”.

The enclosed Nomination Form should be duly completed by the candidates and confirmed by the relevant Official and should reach COMESA/LLPI before 25th August 2012 at the following address:
