ALLPI, based on its strong international relations and cooperation with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency called Apex-Brasil and the Brazilian Association of companies for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods (ASSINTECAL), facilitated full sponsorship for selected tanneries that led to their successful participation in FIMEC 2020 Fair.
FIMEC is an International fair of leather, chemical products, components, machinery, and equipment for footwear manufacturers and tanneries that brings together the entire leather footwear sector’s operation under one roof. FIMEC 2020 was held from March 10-12, 2020 at the Fenac pavilions, in Novo Hamburgo/Rs Brazil. FIMEC is recognized as the sector’s largest trade fair in Latin America and FIMEC 2020 brought together hundreds of exhibitors to launch products, new technologies, and services, as well as thousands of trade professionals from all over the world. The fair also had many different attractions, including the concept factory, which presented footwear production in real-time, for the purpose of showing visitors the applicability of the technological process and products exhibited at the Fair.
The ALLPI facilitated Tanneries that took part in the Fair included ELICO (Awash Tannery) from Ethiopia, Leatherland Ltd from Uganda, and Global Tanners (Pvt) Ltd from Zimbabwe. ALLPI also invited Nakuru Tanners Ltd from Kenya, Afrotan Company Ltd from Sudan, and Petros Araya Tannery from Eritrea, but these didn’t make the trip due to different reasons.
Other activities in which the tanneries took part during the FIMEC 2020 included visits to two chemical manufacturing companies (Vegetable tanning agent manufacturers, in Brazil)’ two Machinery Manufacturer Companies, SENAI Institute of Leather Technology and shoes and leather buyers. The tanneries also met and held bilateral discussions with various institutions representatives and tannery owners on areas of future collaborations and arrangement of business linkages.
The tanneries were absolutely delighted with the level of experience gained from this participation and very eager to strengthen the strategic relations with the companies and institutions they have met.
ALLPI also, on behalf of the tanneries that took part in the Fair, would like to register its utmost appreciation to the Apex-Brasil and the Brazilian Association of companies for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods (ASSINTECAL) for all the hospitality, experience sharing visits, and exemplary cooperation and sponsorship extended to the team during the whole period of their stay in Brazil.
ALLPI once again confirms its continued commitment to facilitating similar visit programs and establishment of strong bilateral and multilateral cooperation between our tanneries in Africa and the ones in the developed world.
