The 2nd Edition of the “Ethiopia Tamrit” ( to mean “Let Ethiopia Produce”) Expo, which ran through 6th  – 10th  May 2023 at Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was concluded to have a great energy in developing the manufacturing sector of Ethiopia. The Expo has been the initiative of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia HE Dr. Abiy Ahmed to promote Ethiopian manufacturing to the level potential demands. The Expo was  part of the 10-year development plan for the industry sector –intends to address the challenges that producers at all levels confront during the manufacturing process, and increase the sector’s contribution to the GDP.

Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) Co-sponsored the Expo which has been an important Platform for Ethiopian Manufacturing sector enhancement in general and Leather and Leather Products and allied industries markets in particular.

The Expo was officially opened by HE. Dr. Abiy Ahmed the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. His Excellency the prime Minister was accompanied by Excellency ministers, regional presidents and Director Generals from Concerned Institutions. Members of the Diplomatic Corps, International Organizations and influential partners in the Ethiopian manufacturing Industries participated in the official opening event.

Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) as part of its strategic activities, has supported and sponsored 4 export-oriented SMEs from Ethiopia Leather manufacturers   based on the consultation of the Ethiopia Ministry of Industry. 

The Expo attracted the participation of policymakers, decision-makers, manufacturers, industry experts, businesses and other stakeholders, more than 300 exhibitors from across Ethiopia and the region and over 300,000 visitors. 

During the Expo the high level panel discussion was held by the head of concerned institutions with the following Topic 

  • Ethiopia Tamirt initiatives and outcome
  • Access to Finance for Manufacturing sector Development
  • Industry Linkage 
  • Quality and Competitiveness of Manufacturing Industry 

Finally, the Expo was concluded, by a final note from HE Demeke Mekonnen, the Deputy Prime Minister and also allowing Ethiopian Manufacturers with a great deal of information and experiences to implement the policy directions  for the competitiveness of Manufacturing sector.
